The Last Tree for Orangutans

I just saw this article on the Huffington Post.  I nearly wept.

The Last Tree for Orangutans

As the US Government have determined that foods must be labelled to show trans-fats, manufacturers have turned to palm oil.  Deforestation and habitat loss has escalated in order for us to have more junk foods foisted upon us (and junk products).  The UK isn’t labelling trans-fat yet but if it does maybe there will be even more deforestation.

We could stop eating this junk?  I am not suggesting we go back to eating trans-fat.  It would do us all good to avoid all these non-foods that are wrecking our planet and our health.  It’s a case of making better choices.

Palm oil is found in many other non-edible products too.

I think I’ll let these images speak for themselves.
